What makes Niko different
Niko remembers, listens, sees and learns, and its AI runs on your laptop.
What was that video I watched yesterday?
Niko Memory new
Niko can remember the names of the apps, pages, videos and files you open, so you can find anything again or ask what you did today. It's off until you turn it on, encrypted on your laptop, and you can pause or delete it anytime.
What did they just say?
Call and video notes new
Say "take notes" during a call, class or YouTube video. Niko writes it down on your laptop, answers questions about it, and gives you a summary and your action items at the end.
What's the answer to this question?
It can see your screen
Ask about anything on your screen: a homework question, an error, a chart, a page. Niko reads it and works it out. The screenshot never leaves your laptop.
Study mode.
Teach it routines
One phrase runs many actions, like a focus timer plus lofi music. Make your own, or add ones from the routine gallery.
Make this more polite.
Select & Speak new
Select text in any app, then say what to do: rewrite, fix the grammar, translate or reply. Ctrl+Z brings the old text back.
Start dictation.
Dictation new
Talk and Niko types for you in any app: Word, WhatsApp, Google Docs, email. Say "new line" or "delete that" as you go.
What's on tomorrow?
Your calendar new
Connect Google Calendar in a minute, with no sign-up. Niko tells you what's coming up and gets new events ready for you to save.
Lite, Standard or Max.
Fits every laptop new
Niko picks the right version for your laptop when you install it: Lite for 8 GB laptops, Standard for 16 GB, and Max for 32 GB or more. Its own small AI engine keeps it light and fast.
Private by design
Your voice is turned into text on your laptop. It's never uploaded.
Works offline
The free version runs its AI on your laptop, so the main features keep working without internet. Look-ups, weather and the natural-sounding voice use the internet (switch on private voice in Settings to keep replies on your laptop too).
You stay in control
Niko asks before moving files or sending messages, and you can undo. Memory and notes are optional, encrypted on your laptop, and you can pause or delete them anytime.
Any Windows laptop
Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus and more, with 8 GB of memory or more. No special graphics card needed.
No server needed
Our server is only used for the waitlist, usage counts (only if you tick the box) and the optional Niko Pro. Everyday features never need it.

Hetansh Haria
13-year-old creator and founder, Ahmedabad, India
Hi, I'm Hetansh, a 13-year-old creator who loves building things with AI. I can talk to my phone, but not really to my laptop, so I decided to build the assistant I wanted: one that actually does things, keeps your voice private, and works on any Windows laptop.
I started Niko in October 2026 and I'm building it in public, one week at a time. Ideas, feedback or just want to say hi? Write to hello@nikoai.in or follow @niko.ai.official.
FAQ
Questions
What is Niko AI?
Niko AI is a free voice assistant for Windows 10 and 11 laptops. You say "Hey Niko" and ask it to open apps, find files, change settings, take meeting notes, type what you say, check your calendar or answer questions. Its AI and speech recognition run on your own laptop, so the main features work offline and your voice and files stay private.
Is Niko an offline voice assistant for Windows?
Yes. Niko is a free voice assistant for Windows 10 and 11 laptops whose AI and speech recognition run on the laptop itself, so opening apps, finding files, changing settings, dictation and meeting notes work offline, with no account needed.
Is Niko AI the same as Niko home automation or other apps called Niko?
No. Niko AI (nikoai.in) is a voice assistant for Windows laptops made by Hetansh Haria in Ahmedabad, India. It isn't related to Niko the Belgian home automation company or other apps and AI voices that share the name.
Is Niko free?
Yes. Niko is free to download and use, with its AI running on your laptop. An optional Niko Pro plan for extra-smart answers is planned for later.
When can I use Niko?
The public launch is planned for February 2027. People on the waitlist get early access to the beta before that.
Which languages does it understand?
Talk to Niko in almost any language. It can reply in 30+ languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian and Hindi, and more are added over time.
Does Niko record everything I do?
No. Niko only listens for "Hey Niko", on your laptop, and throws that sound away straight after. Niko Memory and call notes are optional and off until you turn them on. Memory saves only the names of windows (like a page or video title), never screenshots or what you type. Notes are only taken when you say "take notes". Both are encrypted on your laptop; notes are also saved as a normal text file in your Documents folder (if OneDrive backs up Documents, that copy goes there too).
Do I have to say "Hey Niko" every time?
No. After Niko answers, just keep talking for a few seconds to ask a follow-up, like "and tomorrow?". You can also hold a key or the orb to talk, and turn follow-ups off in Settings.
Will Niko stop working if your servers go down?
No. Niko's AI runs on your laptop, so everyday features keep working without our servers, even with the Wi-Fi off. Our server is only used for the waitlist, usage counts (only if you tick the box) and the optional Niko Pro.
Does it work on my laptop?
Niko is built for Windows 10 and 11 laptops with 8 GB of memory or more. The installer checks your laptop and picks the right version (Lite, Standard or Max), and you can switch anytime in Settings.
Did you use AI to build Niko?
Yes, and I'm open about it. I design Niko, decide what it does and test it on my own laptop, and I use AI coding tools (like Claude) to help write and check the code. The AI that runs inside Niko is different: open-source models (Qwen, Whisper and SmolVLM) running on your laptop, not a hidden API.
Who makes Niko?
Niko is made by Hetansh Haria, a 13-year-old founder in Ahmedabad, India. More about him.
